The Vineyard was planted by Richard Graff in 1965 on the east side of the Salinas Valley, on the edge of Pinnacle National Park. Chalone is storied. Richard known For smuggling cuttings from Europe in his violin case.

The Vines were planted to the original Tam Clone by Richard himself and the clusters Have the prized hens and chicks appearance as a result of millerandage.
