library tasting at USQ

friends in austin texas.

We are moving our usual Manhattan tasting venue from our super-cool and rather cryptic location on the Lower East Side to the spacious and well-appointed Grand Ballroom at Union Square Wines.
The occasion for the tasting is not barrel samples, but a Scholium vertical analysis, through the window of some library wines that we have shipped to NY. We are availing ourselves of USQ's hospitality because we will be offering each of the bottles that we will be tasting for sale—something that we cannot do prudently from a loft on Essex St.

The tasting will be held at USQ on Tuesday, December 6 from 6-8 pm. We will begin at 6:15 pm with a tutored tasting of 12 wines in 6 flights. I will walk you through specificities of vineyards, vintages, and the election of or abstention from controversial techniques. Then we will break up and present these 12 wines, plus at least 8 more, for an open tasting. All of the wines that you taste will be offered for sale immediately, though some will be in bottle, not case, quantities.

We ask that you RSVP to our friend Jesse Salazar, our host at USQ. This event will not be as tightly controlled as the Essex St. events, but we must limit the tasting to the first 75 to respond.

I am very excited to see you. Do not hesitate to write and request specific wines—I will try to satisfy your wishes.
