the Fall 2011 release
There is an annual cycle that does not depend directly on the vines and flow of sap, the stirring of tendrils in the sun. There is the cycle of the winery and wines maturing within it. We are delighted to come to the point in that cycle when we contemplate the Prince, complete and ready to bottle; when we confront two new wines, for the first time, as they approach the goals we have set for them—as we prepare to let them loose, to introduce them to you.
These two new wines are truly objects of excitement for us. Chuey Cab is, of all things, a Cabernet Sauvignon! Do not think that the Scholium Project despises Cabernet—it has been difficult to find a vineyard of the same distinction as our existing stars, like Farina and Guman. Chuey measures up. And the wine heads in a direction perhaps the opposite of what you would expect: it is subtle and elegant, not a man-killing monster like most of our reds. And Michael Faraday is also a wine of great distinction and subtlety—not muscle. It is a chardonnay from very rocky soil, clean and direct … Much more in the mold of LSB, not Choepheroi.
