welcome to the project 2009

Welcome! welcome! It is exciting finally to write you.

I hope that you will excuse the long delay since you signed up for the mailing list. In fact, there had not been much news. But it is spring, and that is changing. I hope that you remain interested.

We are small. I direct the Project. Two friends work with me almost daily; many other friends join in when we need their help. We completed the work of harvest around Christmas, now we are focused on our next bottling— March 16. We are going to bottle the 2008 Naucratis and about 4 other wines. That is why I am writing to you now. You must have heard something about our wines, or perhaps have tasted them. The 2007 Prince is getting a lot of attention now. I am not sure whether this is a good thing or not, but none of the wines in this bottling are quite as strange—as challenging—as the Prince is. These are our nice, normal wines. Hah. In any case, you may read more about them here.

I am bottling enough wine this Spring that I can offer you some of it. But is a challenging time to present you my wines. They are luxury goods, not necessities of life—and neither well known nor easy to find and taste. It is going to take some boldness on your part to accept the offer. I have done a little to encourage this boldness. You will see what it is. All I can do to reward it is to produce wines that are striking and delicious.
