We had a fantastic party in October of 2009, and we promised to do it again. We are looking at the fruit board, and there is nothing on it. The weather has been so temperately cool for so long that, after today, we do not anticipate bringing in any fruit in until October 1, and then after that, not much at all until late October. So there is time to have a party.

We have just released wine. Wines that we are really proud of, and excited about. You know that. Some of you have even tasted them. Many of you have even purchased them. So now we want to invite you to a party to celebrate these wines—and the birth of our next wines. For it is Harvest. Bottling may be their culmination, but harvest is their birth.

And we want no less to celebrate you. In a certain sense, you make all of this possible.

To fuel this celebration, we thought that we would offer two or three things: grilled meat. some salad, and tastes of the wines that you have just purchased. We might even liberate a little of the 2009 cabernet that we will not bottle for a year. And as grateful as we are to those of you who have purchased wine, it seems a little small-spirited to exclude from the celebration those who have not purchased, so we are not going to do so. But since our generosity is not boundless, we are going to fix the number of guest who have not yet purchased wines to 25.

I should mention that last year, this was a pickup party. Because of the demands of harvest, and the sudden inspiration for this party, we have not been able to reconfigure our shipping program to allow you to pick up your wines at this party. If you have arranged for shipping, we will still ship the wine to you, according to all of your specifications. There will be more wine available at this party which you may take with you, but I am afraid that you must await delivery for any wines that you have ordered already.
